The third grade curriculum is delivered by a full time, certified teacher. The curriculum standards exceed the new Generation Sunshine State Standards and the National Common Core Standards. Teachers meet individual needs through regular assessments and working with students individually, in small groups, and large groups.

General Information

●      Classes are Monday through Friday, 8:00AM-2:30PM

●      The Accelerated Reader Program, Khan Academy and Sunshine Math

●      Homework: 30 minutes per night in addition to 30 minutes required reading

●      Weekly Spelling Tests

●      Quarter Schedule: four interim reports and four report cards per year

●      Stanford 10 Standardized Testing in the spring

●      Monthly Newsletter

●      Parent/Teacher Conferences twice a year and upon request

●      Parent and Grandparent Volunteer Opportunities

A Typical Day in 3rd Grade

7:45    Arrival, Unpack, Order Lunch

8:00    Morning Work: Daily Oral Language, Daily Oral Math

8:30    School Prayer, Pledge of Allegiance, Calendar Time

8:45    Language Arts Block: Whole group and individualized reading and writing stressing phonics, grammar, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension

10:00  Snack

10:15  Enrichment Class

11:00  Math Block: Whole and small group learning

12:00  Lunch

12:30  Recess

1:00    Self Selected Reading

1:30    Social Studies or Science Block

2:30    Afternoon Wrap-Up: write homework in agendas, pack up, read aloud

2:30    Afternoon Prayer and Dismissal
